amika means friend, and that spirit drives everything we do—from how we show up for our community to how we source our ingredients. that’s why we’re proud to partner with Forested, a women-led regenerative natural ingredient supplier that supports both people and the planet through climate-positive, community-centered farming practices.
together, we’re creating regenerative supply chains, starting with shea butter in Okere, Uganda, by supporting community livelihoods, regenerative agriculture practices + high quality ingredient processing. and that’s just beginning!
we're kickstarting this ongoing partnership off with our new amika body collection and will soon be bringing regenerative ingredients to more of our products.
read on to learn more about how the regenerative shea butter in our new big embrace body butter is good for you, the planet + the people who farm it.
in this article:
think of regenerative agriculture as a way of growing ingredients that restores soil, increases biodiversity, improves water retention, and minimizes the carbon footprint. the goal of regenerative farming goes beyond sustainability—or maintaining what’s already there—but rather it’s leaving the land healthier, richer, and more resilient than before.
Forested’s regenerative farming practices for shea in Uganda include:
packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and barrier-supporting fatty acids, our ethically sourced shea butter delivers premium hydration and nourishment to instantly replenish and soften skin. our big embrace body butter features this key ingredient, along with ceramides, lipohydroxy acid, and sea buckthorn oil to soften skin and help support your skin barrier.
through our partnership, we’re able to help support women farmers and local communities across East Africa by investing in jobs, fair income, and educational opportunities. as of March 2026, our partnership with Forested has helped create 36 local jobs.
Forested’s environmentally friendly farming practices (aka regenerative agriculture) not only help protect East African shea tree variety, which are a locally threatened species, they also contribute to carbon removal by supporting reforestation and using livestock, like oxen, to till instead of gas-powered machinery.
so far, we’re proud to share that through our partnership we’ve planted more than 4,300 trees and transitioned more than 500 hectares of land from traditional farming methods to regenerative farming practices.
